The Nursery: Girlified
May 10, 2012 in Making our House a Home
It feels like forever ago that I told you about my plans for our “Big Bedroom Swap Around.” I have since revealed the new kids’ room and our new master bedroom with its fabulous new walk-in closet. But I have never revealed to you the last bedroom: the one that was once Josiah’s nursery, but which I intended to make my sewing room. That is because that job never really got done: while I had moved my sewing desk in and used the room as my creative headquarters for almost 2 years, I never took down the nursery wall decor nor made the new curtains and craft room decor I had intended to make. In fact, I never even recovered the seat of the chair…but used a newly painted BUT BARE one all that time.
When I found out we were moving, my plans for a decorated sewing space were thrown out the window. It turned out to be quite convenient that we hadn’t un-decorated the nursery: because–for the purpose of staging our house to sell–it became a nursery once again: this time, with a girly twist
I didn’t buy or make a single thing for this room: I was able to gather up or borrow everything I needed (most of it could be found in Josiah’s nursery).
(If you look closely you might recognize that the baby picture in the large frame is actually Josiah…I never got around to filling the frame with a picture of Selah Mae)
But the box is hers…
…and the blanket, too.
And, of course, the closet full of (too small) clothes is hers…
…and this was the perfect opportunity to display the quilt I made her.
All in all, I am pleased…and sort of glad I hadn’t totally converted this room into a sewing room after all.

I just found out I’m pregnant and I’ve been searching for this crib everywhere! Where did you get it? Love, Jenny
The crib is actually something I borrowed from my mom. I am pretty sure she bought it at a garage sale when they adopted my youngest brother. I’d suggest that you try Craigslist or poke around garage sales all summer.
