Big Brother Shirt…and a Patchwork Pants Outfit to boot!
May 31, 2011 in Made by Mom
Once upon a time, there was a girl…a round and ready-to-pop girl. Planning to welcome a new baby girl to the world any day, she entered the place where her creations come forth (aka. her sewing room) with “big brother shirt” on her mind. Not just any shirt will do on the special day one meets his little sister!
A big brother shirt she did maketh indeed:
But a few hours later, henceforth also became these:
You see, she entered said place with said shirt on her mind and found upon opening her magic chest of inspiration (aka. tub of cast-away items waiting to be re-purposed), these:
She liked the color of each of these old ladies size Ts from which she might make a “big brother shirt”…but realized that although there was plenty of width, no one shirt contained enough fabric to also make the sleeves for a little boy’s t-shirt…the existing sleeves were just too small. She decided instead to make a big brother shirt from this (A maternity shirt which was pretty much too small before she had ever popped…the girl mostly disagrees with the advice that one should buy maternity clothes in her pre-pregnancy size):
Still, she decided to have some fun with the other shirts and some additional treasures (aka. scraps) found in the magic chest.
And what fun!
So the girl in her place with her magical chest made some patchwork pajamas…
…for the big brother man.
While usually perfectionistic in her projects, she was shooting for a “natural” or “organic” look with this particular project.
She even went a bit crazy and included the seams on the outside.
Originally thinking pajamas, now she is not so sure.
These pants are perfect to romp around in!
So the little man romped…
…and stomped…
and wiggled…
…and giggled…
…and hopped…
….and popped (bubbles that is)…
…in his new patchwork pants.

I love your writing, and the pants… they are just great! Definitely meant to be worn outside the house for all to see IMHO.
These are so stinkin’ cute!! I’d love to see a tutorial on how you made these! Did you just start with the larger pieces and then add to it following a pattern? This outfit really turned out great!
